East Fifth Street Sanitary Sewer Replacement and Brick Repair

From: Wayne Avenue To: Wynadot Avenue

Please be advised that Excel Contracting, Inc. is under contract with the City of Dayton to perform sanitary sewer repairs and brick pavement repairs on East Fifth Street between Wynadot Avenue and Wayne Avenue. This project consists of the improvements to the above mentioned roadways. The construction has been divided into 3 phases in order to maintain vehicular traffic to local businesses and minimize disruption. Construction will begin on June 15, 2001 and be completed by September 2001. We will be notifying effected business in writing prior to the start of each phase of construction. This will allow businesses to notify customers, deliveries, and employees of the change in traffic flow.

Phase 1

Construction will begin June 15, 2001, which will include the removal and replacement of the sanitary sewer and brick pavement on the north side of E. Fifth Street under the railroad bridge. During this phase, one lane of traffic will be maintained east and west bound on E. Fifth Street at all times.

Phase 2

The construction on phase 2 will begin on July 9, 2001. This phase will include the removal and replacement of the brick pavement on south side of E. Fifth Street under the railroad bridge. Phase 2 will take approximately a month to complete. During this phase eastbound Fifth Street will be closed at Patterson Boulevard to under the railroad bridge. A detour will be installed directing traffic to the Oregon District Businesses. The detour will consist of rerouting traffic from Patterson Boulevard to E. Fourth Street to Wayne Avenue.

Phase 3

The construction of Phase 3 will begin after the completion of Phase 2, we will notify the local owners and businesses and post pre warning signs 10 days in advance. This phase will include the removal and replacement of the brick pavement on East Fifth Street between Wayne Avenue and east of Jackson Street. During this phase E. Fifth Street between Wayne Avenue to east of Jackson Street will be closed to vehicular traffic.
